## FDC3 Support

**io.Connect Desktop** provides full support for the [FDC3 standards](https://fdc3.finos.org/docs/fdc3-intro).

The **io.Connect Desktop** platform can be configured to connect to an FDC3 [App Directory](https://fdc3.finos.org/docs/app-directory/overview) from which to retrieve FDC3 app definitions automatically. The io.Connect [app stores](https://docs.interop.io/desktop/capabilities/app-management/overview/index.md#app_stores) work out-of-the-box with FDC3 app definitions, which greatly facilitates importing your existing FDC3 apps into the io.Connect framework.

You can use the [io.Connect implementations of the FDC3 standards](https://docs.interop.io/desktop/getting-started/fdc3-compliance/index.md#fdc3_implementations) to create your own FDC3 apps and enable them to interoperate with other apps following the FDC3 standards. It's also possible for your io.Connect apps to interoperate with third-party FDC3 apps, as the io.Connect APIs (such as [Channels](https://docs.interop.io/desktop/capabilities/data-sharing/channels/overview/index.md) and [Intents](https://docs.interop.io/desktop/capabilities/data-sharing/intents/overview/index.md)) support working with FDC3 contexts.

For more details on using the FDC3 standards in **io.Connect Desktop**, see the [Getting Started > FDC3 Compliance](https://docs.interop.io/desktop/getting-started/fdc3-compliance/index.md) section.
